Very excited about how this piece turned out. The top side surface from the fire was much quieter, leaving space for the symmetry and repetition of the carved designs. The concentric wiggles offer a sort of optical trickery helping draw you in to the blurred silhouettes of the painted flowers in the center.
Then, when you turn the piece over, another whole personality emerges. The drama of the flashy woodfired porcelain shows itself. Clean, well-melted, and multicolored ash, fading to a bright red orange flash.
Stunner.
