This size and shape bowl has become one of my very favorites to eat from. Low, wide, contains a sizable helping. Could be pasta. Could be curry. Could be stir fry. Could be stew.
Choosing to glaze the interior and leave the rest raw was a conscious choice to help accentuate both the carved designs beneath the glaze, as well as the gorgeous clay color on the rim and underside. The 2 larger flowers are accented with iron oxide stain to bring them to the front while the smaller flowers fade into the distance.
The rim of this bowl received some beautiful yellowy ash accents while the top and bottom of the bowl flashed a gradient of red orange to maroon.
