Tumbler made out of the stoneware-y version of my woodfire porcelain clay body. Lovely red-orange flashing is characteristic of this recipe.
These tumblers were wheel-thrown and then brushed with a light coat of a porcelain slip. The bottom portion was trimmed away and a line incised to mark the transition.
Expressive marks made with a hare's fur brush. Marks made in rutile oxide and further accented with iron. The designs are floral in nature, but do not reference any specific being. Lightly obscured by the atmospheric effects of the kiln, the surface becomes a quite wild abstract composition.
Lined with a stoney matte tan glaze.
