Campin' Mug 8
MUST LOVE GNAR.
4" tall
14 fl. oz.
Two-finger handle.
I am so excited by this entire batch of Campin' Mugs.
The idea for these mugs began on a camping trip in Montana. They are my answer to the classic enamel camping mug. The one that you've burned your hands on one hundred times while brewing your coffee in the backcountry. With the iconic straight walls and flared lip.
This batch is made with my woodfire porcelain clay body. They are all impressed with a rope to create the rhythmic diagonal texture that the ash loves to play with.
This one is glazed in a luscious feldspathic glaze and was situated on the floor of the kiln right near a stoking aisle. For 40 hrs this pot endured the impingement of hot coals which fused themselves right into its surface. The opposite side has the shadowy suggestion of a painted flower melting into the glaze. It is quite the mug.
